This Week's Tech Tip

FIOS or Comcast?

As you might know, we have hundreds of customers that have either one of these services. No matter what we say here, people are split on who they like. Similar to some people are Ford people and some people are Chevy people. Comcast is the most experienced in the area. FIOS is the newcomer. I have to share with you that the quality of FIOS and the transmission speeds for Internet have a much wider range than Comcast. Some of my customers that have FIOS have a connection speed that is barely 4 times faster than dial up, or about half the speed of DSL. On an occasion the FIOS speed is faster than Comcast, but the majority of the time it is not, no matter what their marketing says. Comcast is much more consistent in its delivery of high-speed, and they keep making it faster. Right now the Comcast residential speed is 12mbps down load, about 8 times faster than a T-1. Comcast Business Class service is 8 times more available than FIOS for our small business customers, too. From our experience through our customer’s eyes, we recommend Comcast.

This Week's Mr. Tech Support Coupon

Free Data Transfer With New Computer Setup

(normally $50 per computer)

Most people buy a new computer, take it home, plug it in and start using it, never setting it up properly. They fail to remove the unwanted, system bogging programs the computer manufacturer installed on it. They fail to install the 30 plus operating system updates to make the computer more secure and run better. They have proplems connecting to their printer, Internet, and email. They only have trial versions of Antivirus/Antispyware and Office programs to use. And they have a devil of a time, getting their data from their old computer loaded properly on their new computer. For a flat fee of $100, Mr. Tech Support will spend the 2-4 hours to make it all better. Even better, for the next week we transfer the data from your old computer for free.
offer good until December 20, 2010
