This Week's Tech Tip

When Should I Replace My Computer?

As I have shared with my clients for the last 25 years, based on my experience, computers have a 2 to 4 year life in business and a 3 to 5 year life in the home. In business, computers tend to be used more heavily and their importance to the daily function of the company is significant, so that if they fail, the failure has a real dollar impact. In the home, computers can limp along a little longer. After 5 years, technology and the speed of computers usually have improved drastically. So, if your computer is 6 years old or older, then you have definitely received your money's worth. Also, Windows 7 installed on the new generation of computers (64 bit processors) has proven to be a real winner. It is so much better than Windows XP, faster and more secure. For your best option on a replacement, see below.

This Week's Mr. Tech Support Coupon

Free Data Transfer With New Computer Setup

(normally $50 per computer)

Most people buy a new computer, take it home, plug it in and start using it, never setting it up properly. They fail to remove the unwanted, system bogging programs the computer manufacturer installed on it. They fail to install the 30 plus operating system updates to make the computer more secure and run better. They have proplems connecting to their printer, Internet, and email. They only have trial versions of Antivirus/Antispyware and Office programs to use. And they have a devil of a time, getting their data from their old computer loaded properly on their new computer. For a flat fee of $100, Mr. Tech Support will spend the 2-4 hours to make it all better. Even better, for the next week we transfer the data from your old computer for free.
offer good until December 27, 2010
